Meu filho tem diagnóstico de autismo desde dos 2 anos, tivemos momentos com avanços que nos trouxeram esperança e sempre após esses momentos tinha estagnação ou perda de habilidades, o exame genético era fora da nossa realidade, mas com o avanço da idade e as dificuldades, conseguimos o exame pelo plano de saúde, tudo ainda é muito novo, não sabemos ao certo nada sobre o gene, mas depois de alguns anos de desesperança, sabe de possibilidades sobre o gene nos trouxe novamente esperanças de poder fazer algo além do que já fazemos pelo nosso filho.

Meu filho hoje é um adolescente muito tímido, não gosta de sair pra casa, mas gosta de ir as terapias, não tem amigos e atualmente não consegue frequentar a escola por algumas fobias, ele aprendeu a ler em casa, consegue se comunicar de forma oral, expressa bem suas emoções, gosta de idiomas, sempre teve hiperfoco em letras, que foi se transformando ao longo dos anos, é um menino alegre e lindo, sempre sorridente e feliz na vida que leva.

Henrique was diagnosed with autism when he was 2 years old. We had moments of progress that gave us hope, but after those moments, there was always stagnation or loss of skills. Genetic testing was initially out of our reach, but as he got older and the challenges increased, we were able to get the test through our health insurance. Everything is still very new—we don’t know much about the gene yet—but after years of hopelessness, learning about the possibilities related to the gene has given us hope again that we might be able to do something more for our son beyond what we are already doing.

My son is now a very shy teenager. He doesn’t like to leave the house, but he enjoys going to therapies. He doesn’t have friends and is currently unable to attend school due to some phobias. He learned to read at home and can communicate verbally, expressing his emotions well. He loves languages and has always had a strong focus on letters, which has evolved over the years. He is a cheerful and beautiful boy, always smiling and happy with the life he leads.
